The Resonance of Yoga and Tea Ceremony - The Path to Beautiful Seiza

The child's pose in yoga can actually be said to be the origin of the seiza in our tea ceremony. First, kneel with a space of about one fist's width between your knees, with your big toes touching or slightly overlapping each other, and with a slight gap between your heels, gently lower your buttocks. Next, stretch your arms straight out in front of you, bend your body forward, and touch your forehead to the mat. This is the resting pose, or child's pose, in yoga. Slowly raise your body from this pose and straighten your spine. This is the beautiful seiza style.

If you cross your legs correctly, sitting in seiza is a very comfortable posture for the body. Sitting in seiza brings tranquility and calm, and calms the mind and body. In the traditional Japanese culture of tea ceremony, this seiza posture is highly valued. And yoga child's pose is very useful for learning the basics of this posture.

Both yoga and tea ceremony are beautiful cultures that value harmony between the mind and body. By feeling the resonance between these two cultures, we can take the time to face ourselves. Through the Seiza posture, we can balance our mind and body and bring tranquility into our daily lives.

When bowing in daily life, you can show respect and at the same time enhance your dignity. Beautiful manners are important in the tea ceremony, and the spirit is also important in daily life. Incorporating beauty and elegance into each of our movements enriches our communication with others. The sense of beauty learned in the tea ceremony, including how to bow, is deeply rooted in our daily lives.
